SICK was founded in 1946. The name of the company was taken from the surname of Dr. Erwin Sick, the founder of the company. The head office is located in Waldkirch, southwest Germany. SICK has established nearly 50 subsidiaries and numerous sales organizations around the world, with more than 6,300 employees. In 2012, its sales reached 971 million euros.
SICK sensor is a sensor with photoelectric devices as conversion elements. It can be used to detect non-electric quantities that directly cause light quantity changes, such as light intensity, illuminance, radiation temperature measurement, gas composition analysis, etc. It can also be used to detect other non-electric quantities that can be converted into light quantity changes, such as part diameter, surface roughness, strain, displacement, vibration, speed and acceleration, as well as the identification of object shape and working state. Photoelectric transducer has the characteristics of non-contact, fast response and reliable performance, so it is widely used in industrial automation devices and robots.
